Natural organic

SELECTING THE FINEST ORGANIC BOTANICALS AND WHOLE FOODS

Where possible, we select organic botanicals and whole foods for their bioactive health benefits. At NORDIQ Nutrition® we understand that organic varieties provide significantly higher levels of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus when compared to non-organic types of the same foods.

Most people do not realise that almost 300 pesticides can be routinely used in non-organic farming, and despite washing and cooking, these can still be present in the food we consume. Organic farming standards, on the other hand, do not permit any synthetic pesticides and are 100% free of herbicides. Organic farmers are allowed to use just 20 pesticides, however, they must be derived from natural ingredients and used in very restricted circumstances.

INDIGENOUS BOTANICALS

Botanicals and whole foods that are native to our Nordic region thrive in our beautiful, but sometimes harsh environment due to their rich variety of protective phytonutrients. It is known that our intake of these phytonutrients can provide us with specific health benefits, such as cellular health and resistance. These factors underpin our quest for sourcing the finest nutrient-dense botanicals that are indigenous to our Nordic landscape. Examples of these botanicals include chaga, the highly revered adaptogenic super mushroom, and lingonberry, prized for its rich nutrient profile and health-giving properties.

Biochemical synergy and complexity

THE MODERN APPROACH TO FOOD SUPPLEMENTATION

At NORDIQ Nutrition®, we apply principles of synergy and complexity to our product formulations. Rather than high-dose, single nutrient approach, we preferentially select synergistic botanicals and whole foods that are colour-rich, nutrient-dense, and bioactive. By doing this, we are able to offer formulations of the very highest quality.

Research data shows that the phytonutrients found in botanicals exhibit intense cell-protective activity. This plays a significant role in total antioxidant capacity, due to the combination of bioactive plant compounds. Evidence suggests that these health benefits can be attributed to the synergistic interaction between phytonutrients and their targeting of cell signalling pathways.

THE SYNERGISTIC EFFECT

Many whole foods are naturally rich in phytonutrients, micronutrients, and fibre. As phytonutrient compounds do not exist in isolation, it is considered that the whole food matrix may contribute to the overall protective effect. Optimised bioactivity may also be as a result of the interactions between the phytonutrients and other nutrients, e.g. vitamin C, or other constituents such as polyphenols. As the diagram illustrates, phytonutrients consumed synergistically (as part of their natural food matrix), may in fact be be more bioactive than a high-dose ingredient in isolation.

Research suggests that as well as regular exercise, intermittent fasting, and calorie restriction, phytonutrient complexity can also help us achieve improved well-being and vitality.
